Tonight’s sunset after the storm

As the fog was dissipating in the setting sun, whichever direction the camera was pointed, we were treated to a breathtaking view.

Easter’s saturated sunset from East Gloucester was arresting, becoming even more so after the sun set. The colors on the water momentarily reflected the voluptuous hues of the twilight sky, when very quickly the horizon turned glowing coral-pink-peach before extinguishing itself in purple.
The violet-orange on the water’s glass-like surface in the foreground looked as though it had been applied by paint.

The beautiful double rainbow late Saturday afternoon had faded, but I did see this on my way home.
The sky was so gorgeous I next stopped at Smith’s Cove to catch the end of the setting sun. The hues quickly changed from vivid yellow-orange to orange-violet-pink.
