All the creatures in the reel, save for the White-tailed Deer, have at one point in their life story, been endangered, threatened, or are in decline. The Brown Pelican, Sea Otter, and American Bald Eagle are conservation success stories. They were saved by citizens and government agencies working together to bring them back from the brink of extinction or extirpation. But some creatures, like the Northern Yellow Warbler and Tree Swallow, are experiencing a slow steady decline. And some, like the magnificent Monarch Butterfly migration, will end during our lifetime.
“Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)” by Marvin Gaye. Filmed in Essex County, Massachusetts and Santa Barbara County, California.
