A butterfly’s eyes are relatively enormous, spherical structures referred to as compound eyes. Consisting of thousands of hexagonal shaped omatidea, each omatidea, or mini-sensor, is directed at a slightly different angle from the others. Collectively they are directed forwards, backwards, left, right, up, and down. For this reason, butterflies are able to see in nearly every direction simultaneously.

Vision is well developed in butterflies and most species are sensitive to the ultraviolet spectrum. The ability to see colors may be widespread but has been demonstrated in only a few species.

For reading a lot of complaints about it’s focus problems in close distance these are nice macro’s!
The ‘unable to do macro’ is the only thing holding me back from upgrading to the x100

Nearly all the photos posted on my blog recently were shot with the Fujifilm x100-it is the only camera I am using at present because I am so in love with it.
For the most sharply focused photos in the macro setting, I find aperture f8 works very well, with manual focus. The command button magnifies the image and you can adjust the focus ring slowly, or by physically moving the camera in or out. The camera allows you to depress the shutter button fully and take the shot while the image is magnified. Another tip–set the focus window to its very smallest setting, not the default setting. If the lens grabs onto a focus point in the larger focus window, it will occasionally struggle to focus. With the smaller focus window, focusing is more quickly obtained (see page 49 of the owner’s manual). And you can always press the AFL/AEL button, conveniently located next to the command button, for very quick focusing.
I had been searching forever for a camera that is both compact enough to carry everywhere and would also give outstanding image quality. The image sensor and lens of the x100 were designed to work in tandem and I believe they have succeeded in creating one of the most functional and beautiful digital cameras ever made.
